Sally and Bernie Killoran Scholarship

Scholarship amount for the 2014-2015 academic year TBD. 

Application 

Established in 2000 by Sally and Bernie Killoran as a token of appreciation for his education at the Wisconsin State College at Oshkosh (now University of Wisconsin Oshkosh) from 1949-1953.

Criteria:

  • Applicants must be full-time students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh pursuing a major in the College of Education and Human Services, with plans to become an elementary or secondary educator (in any discipline/emphasis).

  • Applicants must be accepted into the Professional Education Program through Admission I (or equivalent), but prior to Admission II (or equivalent).

  • Preference will be given to students from Brown County, Wisconsin. (Participation in athletics can not be considered in the selection process, based on NCAA Division III guidelines)

  • Applicants must show financial need by submitting the Financial Aids Form currently used by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh to determine allocation of federal and state grants and loans.

  • Applicants must demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement.

 

Selection:

  • Applications for this scholarship can be obtained from the Curriculum and Instruction Department, College of Education and Human Services.

  • Final selection will be made by a committee named by the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services.

 

The Award:

  • The value and/or number of scholarships will be determined annually by the committee with the UW Oshkosh Foundation and will be based upon income available for this purpose.

  • The award may be renewable for a total of three years, provided the recipient remains in good standing with the College of Education and Human Services and the fund’s earnings are sufficient to finance the awards at this level. A new recipient will be chosen each year. A student requesting renewal must supply the Curriculum and Instruction Department with a letter stating the request, and provide a current unofficial transcript.

  • Half of the award will be held at the Cashier’s Office each semester for payment against that semester’s tuition.
