Brief Bio:

After graduating with a BS in Secondary Education English & Speech Communication from UW Oshkosh (1986), I began teaching in the Appleton Area School District. I received an MA in English from UW Oshkosh in 1990. I moved into a curriculum coordinator position, serving as the Communication Arts Program Leader to oversee English, speech and drama programming in 1995. During this time, I also attended UW Madison, completing my Ph.D. (Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership) in 2000.

I bring to the University 22 years of K-12 experience, having served as both a classroom teacher and district coordinator. My research interests include the development and sustainability of the teacher leader, development of reflective practitioners and transformative leadership. I am also interested in further studies in effective classroom discussion techniques. In addition to scholarly writing, I also enjoy writing poetry and short stories and look forward to publishing young adult fiction.
