CLU - Chartered Life Underwriter
The CLU course of study helps advance your career by providing in-depth knowledge on the insurance needs of individuals, business owners and professional clients. The courses needed to earn this professional designation are offered through.
CPCU - Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter
CPCU is respected as the premier designation in property-casualty insurance. Holding this designation immediately identifies you as a knowledgeable and dedicated professional. Offered by(CPCU/IIAA), the program provides a broad understanding of the property-casualty industry focusing on the legal, financial and operational aspect of risk management and insurance, as well as on financial services. The CPCU program consists of eleven courses. You must pass 8 courses to earn the CPCU designation. All candidates must complete the five foundation courses. In addition, you select either the commercial or personal insurance concentration to complete the program.
To attain the, a candidate must successfully complete all requirements for the ASA designation in addition to fellowship–level requirements. Requirements to attain the FSA designation are shown below and include examinations, e–Learning courses and modules, validation of educational experiences outside the SOA Education system (VEE), a professionalism seminar and the Fellowship Admissions Course.
To attain the ASA designation, a candidate must successfully complete the requirements shown below, and must have the Application for Admission as an Associate approved by the SOA Board of Directors. Requirements include examinations, an e–Learning course, validation of educational experiences outside the SOA Education system (VEE), and a professionalism seminar.
To attain the CERA designation, a candidate must successfully complete the requirements shown below, and must have the Application for Admission as an Associate approved by the SOA Board of Directors. AAI - Accredited Advisor In Insurance
Designation offered by the(CPCU/IIAA) that stresses the production side of insurance, with study in personal and commercial property and liability contracts, sales and agency management.
AIAF - Associate In Insurance Accounting & Finance
Designation offered by the(CPCI/IIAA) will provide you with an understanding of practices, principles, and procedures used to prepare insurer financial statements to comply with the requirements of the NAIC and other regulatory bodies. This course benefits not only those who prepare these statements but also those who use information contained in these statements for management or assessment of insurer performance.
AIC - Associate In Claims
Designation offered by the(CPCU/IIAA). Earning the AIC designation can improve your technical claim handling abilities as well as your communication and negotiation skills. You can take the standard multiline approach, which covers personal lines as well as commercial lines property and liability, or you can choose among four specialty paths if one of them would better suit your career needs.
AIM - Associate In Management

AMIM - Associate in Marine Insurance Management
Offered by the(CPCI/IIAA) this broad-based program is structured to allow you to improve your knowledge of marine insurance while acquiring the wider foundation needed for career advancement. The courses that make up AMIM provide you with practical knowledge so you can do your current job better, now. This program was developed with the assistance of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association and the American Institute of Marine Underwriters.
ARM - Associate In Risk Management
Courses in this program deal with identification and evaluation of exposures to both accidental losses and business risks, analysis of risk control and financing techniques for each exposure, selection of the most effective risk management alternatives and ways to implement and monitor selected risk control and risk financing techniques.
