Plenary Panel Session: Mexico (And Beyond)
An introduction to the Latin American market by looking at the specific case of Mexico. Speakers will discuss entrance and operation strategies for the Mexico market and how Mexico can serve as a launching point for broader participation in the Latin American market.

  • Session 1: Peru and the Peruvian Free Trade Agreement (Reeve 227B) --- The United States-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement became effective in February 2009, allowing U.S. businesses special access to one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Speakers will discuss what this agreement can mean for U.S. businesses and the Peruvian market in general.

  • Session 2: Getting Started in Latin America (Reeve 306) --- An introductory nuts-and-bolts session on how the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and the U.S. Commercial Services offices can help small and mid-sized businesses interested in exporting to or importing from Latin America. Speakers will also discuss partnerships, collaborations, and sourcing.

  • Session 1: Colombia (Reeve 227B) --- Wisconsin companies exported over $109 million to Columbia in 2008, three times the value of what was exported in 204, assisted by the U.S.-Columbia Trade Promotion Agreement signed in 2006. Learn about economic opportunities in the Columbian market.

  • Session 2: Ecuador (Reeve 306) ---  In 2000, Ecuador adopted the U.S. dollar as its official currency, smoothing the way for easier trade with the United States. For over 10 years Ecuador has benefited from duty-free entry for many of its exports under the Andean Trade Preferences Act (ATPA) and received additional trade benefits under the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (AT{PDEA) in 2002.
