The deployment of Agile Practices is one of the most significant developments in Project Management over the last decade. In fact, the Project Management Institute’s 2016 Pulse of the Profession noted around 60% of companies are using Agile Project Management Practices in a significant portion of their projects. Agile concepts even being deployed in other parts of the organization such as marketing and supply chain management. 

This seminar is designed as an introduction to Agile Project Management. We will talk about the origins of Agile and what drove its development, how Agile is similar to and different from traditional project management, the benefits and drawbacks of Agile, and the basic Agile Project Management Process. We will also walk through how the Agile concepts are implemented in the one of the most popular Agile methods, SCRUM. Finally, we will do an exercise or two to get an introduction to how the concepts are applied to a project. 

Andy Miller is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where he teaches Introductory and Advanced Project Management classes as well as quantitative analysis and other seminars. He also teaches in the Executive MBA program. Prior to coming to UW Oshkosh he had almost 20 years of experience in project management, sales and marketing, and software engineering. His industry experience includes leading product development teams on projects for major clients. He has 6 patents to his credit for software development.

He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is active in the local Project Management Institute (PMI) Chapter. He is currently past-president of the local chapter.

In addition to his teaching experience at UW-Oshkosh Andy has twice taught seminars at the Hochscule Fulda (University of Applied Sciences) in Fulda Germany and has been a speaker in the UW-Oshkosh MBA Professional Development Series. He also teaches in PMP Exam Prep Seminars and seminars for corporate clients.  Andy has an MBA from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Learn how to be a more effective, impactful board member at this MBA Leadership Series presentation.  Ms. Potratz will talk about operations vs strategy and explain the true purpose of a board, traits of bad board members and qualities of good board members.  If you are interested in serving on a board, are an existing board member or want tips on how to develop your current board, this presentation is for you!

Ms. Potratz currently teaches financial accounting and government and not-for-profit accounting courses at UW Oshkosh.  She will share real-world examples from her consulting work and experiences serving on the boards of various organizations and NFPs to help you become a stronger and more engaged board member.
