Curriculum Overview

Program Format

Unlike many MBA programs that are organized by courses, our program is organized around a series of goals, skills and themes. The EMBA is a 33-credit degree program that is covered in integrated modules.

The program includes seven modules made up of units. Units vary in length from two to seven half-day sessions. Each module is carefully integrated, continually exposing you to various aspects of the functional areas within business. All are designed to build strong leaders.

  • Module 1: Orientation, Advancement, Leadership -- The module begins with a four-day Residency Orientation.*

  • Module 2: Decision Making -- This module provides you with the foundational tools of applied decision making.

  • Module 3: The Business Environment -- This module includes a 10-12 day international trip.

  • Module 4: The Economics of the Enterprise -- This module provides you with foundations of economic analysis of firm choices in light of industry market structure and regulation.

  • Module 5: The Financial Environment -- This module focuses on common approaches to evaluating the effectiveness of an organization's accounting function.

  • Module 6: Making it Happen -- A strong leader must be able to see a vision and develop a business strategy.

  • Module 7: Culminating Residency -- The final module will help you more fully understand the impact you can have individually and collectively in making an impact on your economic region.

(Learn more detailed information about each Module.)

*Residency Orientation
You will begin with a four-day immersion into the program as part of Module 1.  This is considered a residency. Therefore, students are required to spend a total of four days (three nights) at an offsite location Thursday through Sunday.

Family Support
The EMBA program is an intense 16-month program, which makes family support crucial to a student's success. Spouses and/ or significant others are encouraged to join students for the weekend portion of the orientation, as special sessions will be held for guests.

The residency will consist of:

  • Class sessions

  • Team building

  • Speakers

  • Enriching experiences for students and guests
