Structured Innovation Planning

Monday, October 19, 2009 - 6:00-9:00 p.m.
UW Oshkosh, Halsey Science North 175
Presented by Roy Luebke, MBA, Innovation Consultant

A fair amount of attention has recently been focused on business innovation, yet most business leaders struggle with their organization’s lack of creating meaningful new offerings. This seminar will present Structured Innovation Planning as a framework and set of tools for creating a learnable, repeatable process any company can develop and implement to discover new opportunity areas, organize insights into new patterns, group insights into new concepts, and make selections among various strategic alternatives that will achieve their growth and profit requirements.

In this session you will learn:

  • that innovation can be learned and taught
  • new approaches to identifying opportunity areas and creating new offerings
  • ways to gain deeper insights into customer drivers and motivations
  • that innovation is about more than idea generation and product extensions
  • approaches to creating outstanding customer experiences
  • to recognize the types of thinking needed to combine analytical reasoning and creative visioning.

During this seminar we will do a risk tolerance assessment and translate that into an effective asset allocation. We will also go through exercises to calculate your expected net worth given your age and determine how much you should be saving for retirement. You will leave the session with materials and exercises you can use to continue building your financial future.

UW Oshkosh Campus, Halsey Science North 175
Presented by Diane Roundy, MBA, Director of Business Development for Schenck

Ever get tongue tied, nervous or freeze up in social situations? Do you wish you could be one of those people who can walk into a room of strangers and leave with new business leads and even a few new friends? Then you can't afford to miss this presentation! Diane will discuss networking basics and address how to meet key people, hold lively conversations with strangers and obtain leads.

Networking is such an important part of all our professional lives, wouldn't it be great for someone to show you how to do it right and with success? Don't shy away from social settings, learn to make the most of them.

  • Marketing Yourself from A-Z

In addition, Diane will share Marketing Yourself from A-Z. This interactive workshop is for those who would like to find proactive ways to get in front of their prospective clients or potential employers, be more confident in social situations, and learn useful marketing strategies. It is designed to help you develop personally and professionally by providing you the opportunity to develop marketing strategies and become comfortable with them. Learn how to create an elevator speech, communicate with your clients and set goals. These concepts represent only three letters in the alphabet, just imagine what other ideas are out there for you to learn.

  • Developing your Personal Marketing Plan

What is your personal marketing plan? Diane will wrap up the evening assisting you in developing your own personal marketing plan. Much of your plan will reflect on the things you learned during the evening. Sharing ideas, constructing a plan and setting measurable goals are all a part of this session. You will have the opportunity to review your current relationships, referral sources, community involvement and skill sets to help you establish your next steps.

Investment Planning

This seminar is now full. If you register, your name will be placed on a waiting list and we will contact you prior to the seminar if space becomes available.

Tuesday, November 10, 2009 – 6:00-9:00 p.m.
UW Oshkosh Clow Classroom 238 (Clow Computer Lab)
Presented by: Dr. Robert Kunkel, Professor of Finance, UW Oshkosh College of Business

Participants attending this seminar are strongly encouraged to participate in “Securing Your Financial Future” offered on October 27.

In this seminar we will examine two major retirement plans: 401(k) plans and Roth IRAs. Investment opportunities will be discussed including asset allocation, historical returns and risks, and the “stock market.” Learn how a Roth IRA might reduce one’s lifetime taxes by over $200,000. We will use an online retirement planning calculator to evaluate your current retirement plan. To make this an interactive program, the presentation will take place in the Clow Computer Lab so participants will have the opportunity to use various online tools firsthand.

There will be a thorough discussion of mutual funds which includes benefits, families, expenses ratios, and index funds. We will use an online tool to “X-ray” your portfolio of mutual funds … so bring your mutual fund names, ticker symbols, and their percent allocation in your portfolio. Lastly, we will examine Wisconsin’s EdVest Plan (a section 529 college savings plan) and discover why directly investing in EdVest can save you thousands.
