Minors

UW Oshkosh's College of Business offers five undergraduate minors: Business Administration, Global Business, Insurance and Financial PlanningOperations Research and Sustainable Management.

 

Business Administration

Recommended for students who wish to combine a basic business curriculum with an academic major in another college. See the business minor planning sheet for prerequisites and restrictions on upper-level courses.

Required Units (crs): 24 minimum

Business: BUS 198, 204, 311, 320, 331, 341, 351, 361, 371

Economics: ECON 106 or 204 or 206

Comment:
In addition to course prerequisites, students are limited to 6 credits of upper-level Business courses per semester.  A minimum of 9 credits of (300 or 400) business courses must be taken at UW Oshkosh.

 

Global Business

This minor is only available to students with a major in the College of Business. Not available to students with an international management emphasis. See the BBA planning sheet for prerequisites and restrictions on upper-level courses.

Required Units (crs.): 23 minimum

Global business requirement (6 crs): two of the following: BUS 335, BUS 365 or BUS 375

Foreign language requirement: the equivalent of 8 college credits of a foreign language (all 8 credits must be in the same language)

Cultural diversity requirement: 6 credits from a pre-approved list of 300-400 level courses

International study tour requirement: a pre-approved international study tour or semester abroad academic study experience.

 

Insurance and Financial Planning

open to all majors

The Northeast Wisconsin (NEW) Insurance Program develops students for careers in risk management and insurance.  Coursework focuses on insurance, risk management and financial planning. This is a professional development program to prepare students for careers in the insurance industry.

Business: BUS 327, 334, 336, 337*, 437*

Electives (select two): BUS 333, 383, 403, 404, 463; ECON 368

* BUS 337 and 437 cannot count for both the Finance Major and the Insurance Minor.

 

Operations Research

Recommended for students who wish to combine a computer science or mathematics major with a quantitative business minor or for business students who want an applications-oriented mathematics minor. See the Business Minor planning sheet for prerequisites and restrictions on upper-level courses.

Sustainable Management

open to all majors  (detailed information, prerequisites & required course descriptions)

The minor in sustainability management aims to give you (in your life as citizens, consumers, future managers and leaders) an understanding of the holistic and systemic aspects of environmental, social and economic issues (the Triple Bottom Line or TBL).  We will also provide you with concrete elements of management intended to develop and spread innovative, ambitious and realistic strategies within organizations while utilizing any major course of study.
