Policy and Objectives
Students actively manage endowment portfolios by evaluating numerous financial assets and investment strategies, implementing appropriate strategies and monitoring the portfolios.
The Student-Managed Endowment Fund Program benefits the University in various ways, such as:
- Funding for scholarships
- Fund management experience for students
- A new source of funding for the UW Oshkosh Foundation
- Positive community exposure
Program Objective
The primary objective of the Student-Managed Endowment Fund Program is to provide a learning environment where students have the opportunity to manage an institutional investment fund.
Investment Objective
Managers will follow a total return objective, seeking a return equal to the spending rate plus inflation, with a moderate amount of risk.
Trading Constraints
Initial investments are limited to 5% of the overall portfolio. The portfolio is rebalanced if any stock holding is greater than 10% of the overall portfolio.
Student Manager Activities
Fund managers develop, review, and revise investment policy statements and actively manage endowment portfolios by evaluating financial assets, implementing appropriate investment strategies, and monitoring the portfolios
