Background

Dr. Stuart earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He worked as an engineer, production planner, and manufacturing manager in the paper and pharmaceutical industries for several years before attending Indiana University to earn his Ph.D. in accounting.

Dr. Stuart held faculty positions at the University of Florida and the University of South Florida before joining the UW Oshkosh faculty in 2009. He teaches cost and managerial accounting at the undergraduate and graduate levels and is fascinated by the intersection of information and behavior.

Dr. Stuart’s research interests include

  • Managerial compensation and incentives
  • Managerial accounting and economics, including topics such as performance measurement and the adoption and success of management control systems
  • Managerial judgment and decision analysis
