Internship Supervisor Responsibilities

Overall Expectations

Here are a few guidelines that are necessary to follow in order to secure a mutually beneficial internship experience:

  • Ensure the internship is a meaningful learning experience for the student.
  • Effectively train your intern and provide all necessary resources for the position.
  • Develop learning objectives and goals with the student.
  • Monitor your intern to ensure they are completing assigned duties and staying busy.
  • Evaluate your intern's progress and provide feedback often.
  • Provide opportunities for increased responsibility.
  • Communicate any changes or issues regarding the internship to the UW Oshkosh College of Business Professional Development Director.

 

Based on your intern's academic enrollment, there are different activities that he or she will ask you to be involved with.

If your intern is enrolled in the 3-credit course, you will be asked to:

  • Complete an online assessment of the student at the beginning of the internship.
  • Assist the intern in completing a Learning Contract that articulates the student's goals for the internship.
  • Complete a mid-semester evaluation and be available for a site visit from the College of Business Professional Development Director.
  • Be present for your interns end of semester presentation.
  • Complete an online assessment of the student at the end of the internship.


If your intern is enrolled in the 0-credit course, you will be asked to:

  • Complete an online assessment of the student at the beginning of the internship.
  • Complete an online assessment of the student at the end of the semester.
