Music is an integral
part of our daily curriculum in every age group - singing, listening,
movement, instruments, etc. "Adventures in Music" is
a permanent part of our program. (Recent research
suggests a strong correlation between regular, progressive musical
instruction and enhancement of the development of math, science
and reading skills. Early exposure to music appears to be a key
factor in this positive correlation. This and the fact that all
of the children currently involved in the formal musical program
are thoroughly engaged by it).
The music program cost
is added to your childcare bill and then paid to the "Adventures
in Music" program by the Children's Center. The cost is $80
for a 12-weeksession (one-half hour, one day a week), which is
$5.75 per week spread over the fourteen week semester or $6.67
per week spread over the 12-week music session. It can be paid
weekly with your childcare bill for the 12 weeks or for the 14
weeks or paid as a lump sum anytime during the semester. There
is one 12-week session each Fall and Spring semester. A 6-week
summer session is sometimes held at the discretion of the teacher.
"Adventures in
Music" is on Wednesday mornings (and on Friday mornings if there are not enough spaces for all of the children on Wednesday) starting the second week of
the Fall and Spring semesters. The teacher is Roberta Dorgan.
Sessions for children two and under are held in the individual
classrooms and for threes and older in the gym. Your child will
be included in the program if he/she is scheduled on Wednesday
mornings (or Friday mornings if applicable) with the cost being added to your childcare bill. If
you do not want your child to participate in the music program,
you must notify the Director by the end of the first week of the
semester.
