July 2010 update on his work with nanoparticles, published in the
Oshkosh Northwestern
From the WiSys Newsletter, Volume 1, Issue 4:
"Dr. Charles Gibson, Professor of Chemistry and Department Chair at
UW-Oshkosh,
developed an innovative and cost effective method to manufacture
nanostructured metal
compacts with preferred grain orientation from nanosize
particles. The compacts may be
used in a wide variety of materials, including food packages,
microwaveable containers,
diamond-cutting tools, and high-strength machine parts. He
received two patents covering
his technology that are currently being marketed by WiSys."
Dr. Gibson also presented a seminar to the department,
“Intellectual Property Development as a Scholarly Activity.”
