Scholarships for Science Majors

Only for UW Oshkosh Chemistry majors:

Gilbert F and Katherine L Pollnow Chemistry Scholarship

Awarded to a Professional Chemistry major with outstanding performance in Physical Chemistry and its math and physics prerequisites; preference given to a student with financial need. All students in Chem 371 are considered.

Open to UW Oshkosh students in Chemistry and other majors:

Ruth A Berge Organic Chemistry Scholarship Award

Awarded to a student with outstanding performance in Organic Chemistry. All students who have completed Chem 335 are considered.

Daniel Raaf Scholarship

Awarded to a student with demonstrated financial need majoring in Art, Computer Science, English, Foreign Languages, Geography, Geology, Biology and Microbiology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Music or Physics and Astronomy. Application deadline February 24, 2014.

Merlin Silverthorn and William Haidlinger Scholarships

Application required; awarded for academic excellence and financial need.

National Scholarship Programs:

SMART (Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation) Scholarship Program

SMART will pay for all educational expenses for a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. program in a STEM discipline, and then provide scholars unique opportunities to work as research scientists or engineers on cutting edge technology in world class Department of Defense facilities. This is a highly competitive, national program, open to U.S. citizens only. The SMART program will pay all educational costs and a stipend from as little as one (1) term up to 5 years. Specifically the program pays for:

  • Full Tuition - to any accredited U.S. University;
  • a very generous stipend while in school ranging from $25,000 - $41,000 per year;
  • Book allowance - $1,000;
  • Health insurance contribution;
  • Paid Summer internships;
  • Travel fees for internships and all required student fees.
