Winnebago County Truancy Intervention Program (TIP):
The Truancy Intervention Program assists students in maintaining regular school attendance, in setting day-to-day and long-term goals and in developing positive behaviors. This program is led by a licensed social worker who is assisted by trained UW Oshkosh students that serve as volunteer mentors. These mentors perform duties such as verifying attendance, making school visits and tutoring, and providing positive role models for students. All mentors are trained by TIP staff and other professionals from the community.
To accomplish these objectives, it is necessary to have the support and involvement of people who surround the students every day. Our Truancy Intervention Program staff make every effort to involve parents, guardians and school staff as well as Winnebago County Human Services and Juvenile Intake, Oshkosh Police Department and Winnebago County Circuit Court as needed.
