UW Oshkosh Caregiver Project Staff Biographies

Carolynn Brown-Schoening, MS, is a training facilitator with the project. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Early Childhood Education and from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a MS in Counseling. Carolynn served as an educator for the Neenah Joint School District for 30 years and an Ad Hoc Instructor in the Counselor Education Program, College of Education and Human Services at UW Oshkosh for 14 years. Her current volunteer activities include mediator for Conflict Resolution Center of Winnebago County and member of the Appleton Police Department VCR (Victim Crisis Response) team.

Jan Censky leads administrative support for the training project including workshop planning and coordination, registration, correspondence, evaluation analysis and other tasks.  She has been involved with the project since February 2006. Jan’s background is in business management and human relations, having owned a small business for over 12 years. Contact Jan with any questions about the Abuse and Neglect Prevention project. Donna Cochems
is the project’s lead curriculum writer and learning facilitator. She was employed by the Department of Health and Family Services Bureau of Quality Assurance where she last served as chief of the Caregiver Regulation and Investigation Section, responsible for investigations of caregiver misconduct, ongoing administration of the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and oversight of nurse aide training and testing as well as the Nurse Aide and Caregiver Misconduct Registries. Donna also worked at the state level with economic support programs such as W-2, Medicaid, and Food Stamps. Since 2004, she has worked part-time with UW Oshkosh on projects including Senior Care and the Caregiver Background Check pilot program. Donna was also employed by Dane County Human Services as an economic support specialist and fraud investigator.
