Wisconsin Assisted Living Association (WALA)
21st Annual Spring Conference
The Wisconsin Assisted Living Association 21st Annual Spring Conference “Heart of a Superhero: The Champions of A.L.” was held on March 10 and 11, 2016 at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The WALA Spring Conference was an educational conference for a variety of assisted living industry professionals. It included over 40 concurrent breakout sessions, a trade show and countless networking opportunities. There were approximately 700 conference attendees and over 150 exhibitor booths.
On March 10, 2016, CCDET staff members Donna Cochems and Sharon Rickords participated in the conference. Donna presented a session titled “Reporting Caregiver Misconduct: Who? What? When? How?”. The session covered misconduct definitions, reporting tools and reporting requirements for assisted living providers along with suggested staff training handouts. Sharon managed a CCDET exhibitor booth that provided conference attendees information and handouts regarding dementia online training courses, upcoming caregiver training sessions, the online “Increasing Safety by Preventing Violence” course and information about the CCDET Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) training registries. Visitors to the booth expressed interest in signing up and participating in the CCDET training opportunities.
This conference provided valuable marketing and networking opportunities. CCDET looks forward to attending this conference in the future!
