Information for Employees


Background

Ch. DHS 83.20, Wisconsin Administrative Code requires employees of Wisconsin CBRFs to complete four department-approved training courses: Fire Safety (4 hours), CBRF First Aid and Choking (4 hours), Standard Precautions (2 hours), and Medication Administration and Management (10 hours). Your employer is responsible for identifying and providing the correct training for you within required timeframes, based on your job duties. 

The names of employees who successfully complete any of the four department-approved trainings on or after April 1, 2010 will be added to a public-access registry.  Employers and state surveyors will use this registry to confirm that an employee completed any or all of the four trainings.  Paper certificates of completion will not be acceptable verification of training completed on or after April 1, 2010. 

NOTE:  Only the names of employees who complete training on or after April 1, 2010 will be added to the registry.  CBRF employees who completed training before April 1, 2010 will not be added to the registry or be required to re-take any of the four courses, unless otherwise required by the employer.

About the Training

Effective April 1, 2010, all four trainings must be taught by an Approved Instructor.  A list of those instructors is located on this website at Instructor Registry.

You must attend the entire training and successfully complete a test at the end of the training.  Your instructor is responsible for sending the names of all employees who successfully complete the training to UW Oshkosh along with a fee of $15 (as of June 13, 2011) for each employee.  Your employer will determine who pays the fee.

Within 15 business days of UW Oshkosh CCDET receiving the training roster and payment*, your name will be added to the Employee Registry.  No contact or personal information about you will appear on the Registry.  Access the Registry to ensure that your information is correct.  If you find an error, contact UW Oshkosh at CBRFtrng@uwosh.edu

* Training roster must include all required information and payment must be in full before employees on the roster will appear in the Employee Registry.

Training Evaluations

If you completed Standard Precautions, Fire Safety or Medication Administration and Management training, your instructor will ask you to complete a brief and easy on-line evaluation of the training.  The evaluation does not require that you enter your name.  The instructor will provide the information you need to complete the evaluation; information is located on this website at: Evaluations.  CBRF First Aid and Choking attendees will complete evaluations through the American Red Cross.

Name Changes

If you change your name, please notify the CBRF Training Registry Staff at cbrftrng@uwosh.edu.  Employers use the Employee Registry to confirm that you have completed required training, it is important that the Registry has current information.

It is not necessary to contact UW Oshkosh if you change employers, move or get a new phone number.  The Registry does not track or publish that information. 

Complaints

If you believe that the training you attended was conducted improperly in any way, you may file a complaint by completing the Complaint Form.
