Center for Balance Programs
We have many tools to help you find the balance. You can call the Counseling Center at (920) 424-2061 to schedule an appointment to explore various options for stress management. Some examples include:
Biofeedback is a tool that measures your body's responses to stress. Biofeedback trains you to become familiar with your own body’s unique patterns and responses to stress and anxiety.
Through this process, you can learn to control your body’s unique pattern and response rather than having them control you.
The light treatment program through the Center for Balance was initiated as a way to address student and faculty requests for help with decreased alertness, decreased energy level and/or sleep issues.
Self Help Materials
Many forms of self help materials are available in the self help library at the Counseling Center.
Some of these include: books, relaxation CD’s, yoga DVD’s, and workbooks. In addition your therapist may suggest some worksheets or handout information.
You will work with a Counseling Center staff member to develop a plan that fits your needs for stress management .
Groups are also available to address anxiety. Groups provide support, education and time to practice relaxation techniques.
Sleep Hygiene Assessment
Sleep is very important to one’s sense of focus, ability to concentrate, happiness, and health and brain power. Sleep will be evaluated as part of your individual assessment. Sleep hygiene tips can be provided to help you work toward a goal of more effective sleep.
Animal Assisted Therapy
Annie (a Pekingese) is trained to help you feel more at ease as you work through your therapeutic goals. She assists our new director of the Counseling Center, Sandy Cox, in giving you the best of care in regularly scheduled individual and group sessions. If interested, please tell the front desk when scheduling an appointment.
