Third-year journalism major Katherine Pecora found multiple opportunities to apply her UW Oshkosh education in high-impact internships.
Beyond internships with the University's Integrated Marketing and Communications department and College of Business, Katherine earned an opportunity at Willems Marketing, Inc. of Appleton. The position gave her first-hand experience helping Willems' clients adopt and maximize social media and conduct marketing research. The company has relied on UW Oshkosh and Career Services several times to help find talented, creative and professional students eager to contribute.
"When I decided to come to UW Oshkosh, I had no idea that I would be preparing for graduation with three internships under my belt. The incredible faculty and staff at this university have both motivated and inspired me to excel."
Desiree Dewey, a third-year student with a biology major, used her internship at the city of Oshkosh's Menominee Park Zoo to apply her knowledge of animal science while educating children and visitors.
Desiree helped lead a class of grade school students that met at the public zoo, and she regularly fielded and answered questions of daily zoo visitors. Menominee Park Zoo managers leveraged her knowledge and talent to educate and inspire the patrons of their cherished community attraction.
With two years to go before his graduation, Salvatore Lazaro III already landed a unique opportunity to put his human resources education to the test.
Salvatore spent summer 2011 working as an employment coordinator with Walt Disney World's Casting Services in Orlando, Florida. He learned from the executives of a Fortune 500 company. Disney benefitted from a smart, savvy and well-rounded UW Oshkosh student, already making an impact with much of his academic career still ahead of him.
