Tutor Requirements

The Center for Academic Resources hires student tutors according to national standards of qualification. Please recommend currently enrolled students as tutors only if (1) you have taught the course for which you are recommending a tutor, (2) the student has completed the course, with you or another professor, and (3) the student received a B or above in that course. While it is preferable to hire students with cumulative GPAs at or above 2.500, their grade in the course they'll tutor is more critical. In addition to knowing the course material, good tutors are patient, effective communicators. Sometimes the best tutors are students who had to struggle a bit with the course material before mastering it.

To recommend a tutor, please call the Center for Academic Resources (424-3419) or complete and submit the form below. You will be contacted as soon as a tutor is available for the course.
