Center for Academic Resources

English Language Assistance

Helping English Language Learners Succeed

Starting in Fall 2008, the Center for Academic Resources has a professional tutor who can assist students for whom English is a second or non-native language. Mickey Goggin, CAR's English Language Tutor, works with individual students to help them with processing course material (e.g., learning difficult vocabulary, making connections between concepts, comprehending cultural background, interpreting course assignments), speaking English (e.g., basics of pronunciation, presentations, classroom participation strategies), and understanding English grammar ( e.g., subject/verb agreement, plurals, tenses).

To schedule an appointment with Mickey, simply call 424-2304 or come by CAR's office in Dempsey 317.

The Center for Academic Resources is funded by Differential Tuition and the Growth Agenda:
all of its services are free for undergraduates at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
