CAR Mission: Tutoring for Undergraduates

The Center for Academic Resources (CAR) provides tutoring services for undergraduates at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and is funded by Differential Tuition.  Students can receive free one-on-one tutoring for most courses on campus. There are also several kinds of regularly scheduled group study sessions, such as Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Peer Educator Review Sessions (PERS).

CAR employs over 150 students every semester as Office Assistants, Content Tutors, SI Leaders and PERS Leaders.

***You must log-in with your UW Oshkosh Net ID and Password in order to see the available tutor list.***

 Content Tutoring:

  • Available for one-on-one or small group sessions
  • Support available for nearly every undergraduate class in most disciplines
  • We work with you to find a tutor that will fit YOUR needs
  • You can sign a contract with your tutor to receive consistent tutoring

Tutoring Attendance Policy:

You will not be penalized for one no-show, but after you miss more than one scheduled appointment; you may lose your tutoring privileges for the remainder of the semester.

 Supplemental Instruction (SI):

  • Designed for large 100- and 200- level courses (aka, "pit classes")
  • The SI leader conducts regularly scheduled group review sessions
  • The leader actually re-attends the class, so you know the review session will be pertinent to what you learned

Peer Educator Review Sessions (PERS)

  • Designed for large 100- and 200- level courses (aka, "pit classes")
  • The Peer Educator conducts weekly review session held in a group setting
  • The Peer Educator meets with the instructor to determine the focus of each weekly session
