Center for Academic Resources

CAR Mission: Tutoring for Undergraduates

Increasing Access to Learning Assistance

Several academic departments and service programs at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh have traditionally provided free tutoring for many students. Each program determines its hours of operation, policies for accessing tutoring, and requirements for becoming a tutor.

Starting in Fall 2005, a new tutoring program has been available thanks to Differential Tuition funding. The Center for Academic Resources can provide tutors for more students in more courses. If students want help in a course that is not listed on any of the websites at the left, they can request a tutor from CAR; faculty members recommend tutors who can assist students in their courses. Students schedule their own tutoring appointments and can work with a tutor any time that CAR is open.

The Center for Academic Resources is located in Dempsey 317. For the Spring 2008 semester, CAR will be open Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, CAR will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Jan Norton, CAR Director, by phone (920.424.3419) or email (nortonj@uwosh.edu).
