On Monday, March 22, we attended an evening performance of Conor McPherson's The Weir at the Cambridge Arts Theatre.  The play is set in a pub located in a rural part of Ireland, where four local men exchange spooky stories in an attempt to impress a young woman who has recently moved the area.  The men are in for a real surprise, when she decides to reveal her haunting tale to them.  The Weir was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs on July 4, 1997.   Conor McPherson has won numerous awards for The Weir, including 1997 Critics' Circle Award, the 1997 George Devine Award, and the 1997 Evening Standard Award for the Most Promising Playwright.
