On Thursday,
March 4, we embarked on a journey into the world of Shakespeare.
Our first stop in Stratford-upon-Avon was the quaint home of Mary Arden,
Shakespeare's mother. The old farmhouse represented the life of a
yeoman farmer during Tudor times. Our tour, including the dovecote
and
falconry
exhibit, gave us a taste of this lifestyle. Our next stop was Anne
Hathaway's cottage, the family home of Shakespeare's wife. Here we
caught a glimpse of what life must have been like for the young playwright.
We also saw the beauty of times past captured in the gardens of colorful
flowers. Our next stop was Shakespeare's birthplace where we journeyed
into the history of Shakespeare and his theater company, the King's Men.
Our afternoon concluded with a visit to Trinity Church where Shakespeare
rests
in peace. Our adventure continued in the evening with the performance
of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The performance brought Shakespeare to life. The singing and dancing
highlighted the beauty and power of Shakespeare's legacy.
