Design Basics for Business

If you are a business owner, non-profit organization or professional who would like to create your own marketing materials, you won't want to miss this two-day design workshop provided by Kevin Rau.
Obtain hands-on experience designing and producing print-ready publications, like brochures, flyers, and newsletters using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The workshop will cover the basics of graphic design, typography, and the software used by design professionals.

A basic knowledge of the Macintosh operating system is required, though the skills gained will be transferable to PCs.
Objectives of the Workshop
- Introduction to industry standard software for design
- Exploration of technical aspects of photo reproduction and resolution for print and web
- Development of fundamental design skills through visual problem-solving processes
- Introduction to the terminology and function of typography and graphic design
- Exploration of color theory and technical aspects of color reproduction
$300 for two day workshop, including lunches and materials.

- Day 2: 8:30 am - 4 pm
Attendees will come away learning a wide range of important tools. These tools are necessary to know to ensure the best results from digital photos; retouching and adjusting color balance; how to create logos, info graphics, and simple illustrations; creating style sheets; typography, including type classifications, the right font for the right job, mixing and matching fonts; and many more tips!

Kevin Rau earned his Bachelor of Science in Art and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Formerly design director for New Jersey's Fairleigh Dickinson University, he has operated his own studio since 1997, and performed as design faculty for the University of Wisconsin system since 2004. Kevin has created materials for Sony, Shelcore Toys, Seton Hall University, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Culver’s Restaurants, and many others. His work has been featured in top industry publications from around the world.
