Progress Report: New Radiologic Sciences Major

NEW MAJOR in RADIOLOGIC SCIENCES NEARING FINAL APPROVAL

Background: For the past couple of years, the Department has been pursuing the addition of a fourth major to our roster.  In addition to Biology (with multiple emphases), Microbiology, and Environmental Health, we are proposing to add a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS) degree.  This degree will combine on-campus and clinical school education for licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, i.e. a person who performs medical imaging.  To read more about this healthcare profession, please see www.asrt.org.

Current status: At this time all paperwork for approval of the degree is at UW System.  Once System approves, the degree will be placed on the agenda of the next Board of Regents meeting, which will take place in June. If the BOR approves the major at the June meeting, the degree will become active as of Fall 2012.

Contact Information: If you have any question about the new major, please contact Dr. Todd Kostman by email at kostman@uwosh.edu,  or by phone at (920) 424-1102
