Bio 373 Spring Field Trip 2011
As of Dec 7, 2010, there's still room to sign up for BIO 373, the Biology Spring Field Trip which occurs during Spring Break 2011. This year, Field Trip will go to the Everglades. This national park is a unique habitat and home to many exotic and beautiful creatures. We will spend time watching birds, alligators, crocodiles, and sometimes rattlesnakes. We will canoe through mangroves and a sawgrass meadow where we will see the pink eggs of apple snails, bromeliads and ferns hanging from the trees, and occasional alligators. We will also snorkel on a reef off the coast of Key Largo where we will see sea fans and other corals, many colorful fish, lobster, and occasionally sharks and barracuda.
BIO 373 course is worth 2 upper division credits. To earn the credits, you must either complete a project or (when appropriate) keep a detailed journal of everything that you observe. There is always time to relax, hike or swim, but this IS a biology class, so we spend a lot of time studying the regions in which we're camped.
To enroll, you must first pay the fee (announced each October) then take your receipt to the field trip leader. This year it is Walt Rainboth, HS52, rainboth@uwosh.edu, 424-0121. The leader will give you an ADD card for the course.
