Beyond Classroom Walls is a multimedia publication that highlights excellence in teaching and learning at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Beyond Classroom Walls (formerly College of Letters and Science Special Reports) is produced by Grace Lim, with the help of the University's Learning Technologies, and the students in her Multi-Platform Storytelling in the Digital Age class.
Behind Beyond Classroom Walls
Grace Lim
With the help of University Learning Technologies, Lim, an adjunct journalism instructor, has helmed several student-faculty works including War: Through Their Eyes, a multimedia project that resulted in an 80-page book, a photo exhibit and a series of podcasts. She was also the director of the short documentary Airboat Rescue 1: When the Ice Breaks, a cross-discipline collaborative project that involved student, faculty and staff from four departments. A longtime journalist, Lim has been a staff reporter for the Miami Herald, the Austin American-Statesman and People magazine covering crime, education and business. Lim has a journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. |
Shawn McAfee
Shawn McAfee is the coordinator for the Graphics and Presentation Lab at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She was the art director for Midwest in the Far East event along with past Beyond Classroom Walls projects including the War: Through Their Eyes and Airboat Rescue 1: When the Ice Breaks. She has more than 25 years experience as a graphic designer, art director and pre-press specialist. She is also an adjunct instructor for the UW Oshkosh Arts department. McAfee earned a BFA from UW Oshkosh and a masters of arts degree from UW-Milwaukee. |
Brian Ledwell
Brian Ledwell is a multimedia developer in Learning Technologies at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a master's degree in Fine Art and earned his BFA from the University of Toledo. |
