The ArtsCore Teacher in Residence Program gives teacher candidates the opportunity to spend 18 weeks in a school district with cooperating teachers who are committed to arts integration as an approach to teaching. Both arts and non-arts teacher candidates, at any level of instruction, are invited to apply for this unique opportunity, an alternative to traditional student teaching. Arts integration enriches teaching and learning in any classroom.
The ArtsCore Colony at the Paine Art Center and Gardens will invite new teacher teams, who are interested in working in and through the arts, to attend a year-long professional development program. Kicking off with 3 days in late summer, the Colony will provide teacher teams (consisting of at least one arts teacher and one regular classroom teacher both in their first 2 to 5 years of practice) with programming, coaching, support, and time to develop arts integrated curriculum.
ArtsCore on Campus seeks to increase collaboration among and between departments at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh that are involved in teacher education. Through course work, internship opportunities, workshops, guest speakers and various other initiatives, ArtsCore on Campus will increase arts integration support for pre-service teachers and the campus community at large.
Congratulations to Department of English, Marguerite Helmers, Ph.D. and Department of Political Science, Jerry Thomas, Ph.D for receiving the ArtsCore research grants in 2016.
