Research Policies and Services

The Oshkosh Archives and Area Research Center offers some research and reference services to distant patrons.

If you cannot visit us in person, the Archives and Area Research Center will make single copies of documents from paper or microforms. All requests must be submitted in writing either via electronic or conventional mail. The archives staff will commit up to one half hour of research per request. Genealogy requests, to meet this time restriction, should be limited to three record searches per letter(i.e. Gustav Olson- Dodge county naturalization, Gustav Olson- death registrations, and Karl Schmidt- Dodge county naturalization). There is no charge for reference services but donations are always gratefully accepted. Donations should be made to UW Oshkosh.

To request reference services for genealogy or other any other purpose please submit a request from our online request form or write a letter . Include as much information as you know about the subject, including variant spellings of names and the counties where the individuals were located.
