Records Management

The primary purpose of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Records Management program is to ensure employee compliance with state public records laws. The principle mechanism for compliance are RDAs (Records Disposition Authorizations). These are the foundation for retention, disposal or preservation of all public records. RDAs define the attributes of a records series, prescribe how long records in that series need to be kept and how records need to be disposed of at the end of that time period. RDAs are written through a process between the office of origin of the records series and records management staff. These RDAs must be approved by the state's Public Records Board.
