The original recording of "You Were There" was produced by Oshkosh High School's Notebook staff under the direction of Catharine Josslyn. The narrator was Harry Meyer. The original recording is part of the collections of the Wisconsin Historical Society's archives sound holdings (Disc 1A) and the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh Archives and Area Research Center.

The on-line "filmstrip" was produced by Jennifer Bumann and contained images from the 1954 Notebook yearbook and the pages of the Oshkosh Northwestern.
