There was continuous entertainment for the picnickers, including concerts by the high school band, the outboard races, contests for children in which 400 participated, and bingo in the park pavilion. Many families made in a whole day’s outing, spreading picnic lunches at noon and evening….

Tickets were distributed to hundreds of children for free pop, candy and ice cream. Prizes in the children’s games were donated by local merchants…
