The Competition: To be eligible the artist must be 18 years or older. The competition is open to all media(utilitarian, digital, video, print, etc.) with size limitations of 8’ x8’ for 2-d and 8’ height and 150 lb limit for 3-d. Installations must come with specific directions for set-up and must fit in a 15’l x 15’w x 12’h gallery space.

Entry Procedure: Digital images only, unmanipulated, unenhanced, jpeg images which must be submitted on a CD. Label each jpeg with last, first name, title, and # that corresponds with that image. As follows: smith_joe_title_1.jpg
There will be a $25 non-refundable entry fee for 1-3 works. You may submit additional entries at the rate of $5 per additional entry. The Allen Priebe Gallery will retain submitted images of accepted entries as part of its permanent collection. CDs will not be returned. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the Allen Priebe Gallery.

Delivery for Accepted Entries: All work must be matted/framed appropriately and ready to hang or install. Hand delivered work will be accepted at the art office (A/C Building, Rm 319) M-Th, 8am-4pm only. All work must arrive at the gallery no later than January 29, 2014 and must either be picked up after the exhibit or have prepaid return shipping arrangements through UPS or FedEX. The artist is responsible for all shipping and insurance fees while in transit. Shipped art work should be packed in a sturdy re-useable box.
Laura Davis (b. 1971, Holland, Michigan) is a Chicago based artist working in sculpture, drawing and installation. Her work examines the intersection of craft, design and art by using display structures to conflate notions of value and context. Most recently she has exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, threewalls, Chicago; Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago; Evanston Art Center, Chicago; Gallery 400, Chicago; SPACES, Cleveland; The Dairy Center for the Arts, Boulder, CO; and the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, Grand Rapids, MI. Davis teaches in the Department of Contemporary Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and holds a MFA from the University of Chicago as well as a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art.
All entries will be judged from digital images (JPEG format on CD). If at the time of delivery an accepted work is found to have been misrepresented, it may be disqualified. Notification of accepted work will be sent by mail by January 3, 2014.
The juror reserves the right to reject any work submitted at their discretion. Also, any work not matching the digital images entered will be disqualified. If the art is for sale, all sales to be negotiated by artist/buyer, the gallery receives no commission.
