U. W. Oshkosh Anthropological Club

       Secretary’s Report

Tuesday July ninth, two thousand seven, summer, the U.W. Oshkosh Anthropological Club met at the New Moon Café, time 1:30.

Attendance:

The meeting that day included 3 attendees, all of which were officers.

Meetings Topic:

The meetings number one agenda, the web-page design, in which Carol has been diligently working on. We all agreed it has progressed nicely. Great job Carol! For all those interested in our web-page please take a look. I am sure you will be impressed with the site progress. If anyone has any ideas please forward them to your club officers.

Discussion progressed to the taste of Oshkosh. The date of this event is September  fourth two thousand seven, from eleven to two. There is a form due to attend this event that is due by July thirty first and Rick is in charge of this. The form is going to be obtain in the student union office. There has been a voice of concern whether or not the club will be ready for the taste of Oshkosh and that we will be able to man the table with enough material about our club to produce a positive club appearance. We will be bringing this issue back to our next meeting. In the mean time we will proceed as planned with entering form.

The next topic discussed was fundraising in which I agreed to take the responsibility of checking out venders. We all agreed that the club in the fall would sell an item such as chocolate or a coffee item as to generate monies for club functions. We all agreed these companies would have to follow strict guidelines such as organic or Fair trade practices. I will be delivering information to the club next meeting on such companies.

Another issue was the recruitment of new anthropology club members and how to obtain them and what methods we would use in the fall to get the interest of them.

Questions that arose were?

What do we want?

What is our purpose?

How do we present ourselves?

Who are the targeted students?

Why join the club?

These are all questions that need to be answered and a questionnaire made and answered.

A raffle was brought up for a first meeting with a guest Professor giving a presentation for the club and raffle of an anthropology t-shirt.

Getting students e-mails from a sign up sheet from those who might be interested in the club was also mentioned.

The meeting was adjourned with the next meeting to be scheduled accordingly.

                                                                                  Respectfully Submitted,

                                                                                   Sandra Kay-Wheatley
