Anthropology Club Meeting 5-5-08

We had elections for next year. Tony is president, Chris is vice president, Cheng is OSA rep, Carol is secretary, Tony said the he and Chris can continue to be events coordinator and treasurer until we find someone else.

Stephanie said in her advisor meeting she learned:

-In order to get members, you need to show what you will be doing for the year – so need to plan events ahead of time (with dates) possibly in the summer before school starts. This is also important if you want to charge members dues. They need to know what they are paying for.

-If we want to rewrite the constitution or by-laws, Tony needs to do that, with our involvement, then have Stephanie look it over, and then we should all vote on it.

-SLIC has an office in the basement of Reeve. It has our mailbox, which we need to check. The also have people there who are really good at advising students on how to advertise for events. And they have supplies, etc. for making posters.

-Apparently we are charged for room use, but not really…..

Stephanie sign us up for the Taste of Oshkosh, which will be on September 2^nd, 2008. We have posters from last year at Ricks workplace, halsey 259 – need to pick them up.

We decided that we need to meet, probably right after school is out, Mon, Tue, or Wed of that first week to talk about planning stuff. Tony will contact Chris to see when he is able to meet and then email all of us with the day and time.

Also, we’d like to see if we are still recognized or not. But are not sure if we should ask, since that still have us as being recognized on the OSA website.

Also, need to have Chris check on the budget to see if it was approved.
