 Anthropology Major Requirements 

ANTHROPOLOGY MAJOR is recommended for students who intend to teach  Anthropology; work with governmental and non-governmental organizations; work in travel, international business or any other area with cross cultural features, such as, social work or nursing.

Required Units (crs.): 34 minimum *

Required Anthropology Courses

All of the following courses:

    1. 202, Physical Anthropology
    2. 232, Cultural Anthropology
    3. 250, Introduction to Archaeology
    4. 274, Language in Culture
    5. 301, Reading Theory
    6. 494, History of Anthropological Thought

Methods Requirement

One class from the following Anthropology courses:

  1. 350, Culture Methods
  2. 362, Field Work in Archaeology
  3. 363, Introduction to Archaeology Analysis
  4. 378, Human Evolution

 

  • Electives: Sufficient courses from the Anthropology Department's offerings to meet the *minimum requirement.
  • Comment: Statistics, foreign language and/or science courses are recommended.

Required Units (crs.): 24 minimum

Required Anthropology Courses

All of the following courses:

  1. 202, Physical Anthropology
  2. 232, Cultural Anthropology
  3. 250,Introduction to archaeology
  4. 274, Language in Culture
  5. An approved 300-level course

  • Electives: Sufficient courses from the Department's offerings in Anthropology to meet the Minimum Requirement.  See Anthropology Courses list.
