No publisher Hoeft, Brittany P 2013-01-28T16:39:56Z Event Glowing Smiles 5k and Kids Fun Dash http://www.uwosh.edu/alumni/events/glowing-smiles-5k-and-kids-fun-dash The Glowing Smiles 5k run / walk and Kids Fun Dash is a fundraiser for the Lina Vergara Memorial Scholarship at UW-Oshkosh This life time scholarship and race were created to honor the life of Lina Vergara, our daughter and sister, whom we lost at the young age of 20. Lina had a passion for teaching, and caring for everyone’s needs. The scholarship will benefit elementary education students who share Linaʼs desire to teach and assist others, especially those students at UW-Oshkosh that are adapting to campus life, or are struggling emotionally with the challenges they often face in college.

The cost is 30$/person and 35$ after April 10th, kids run free! The event will take place at Orchid Heights Park in Middleton, WI. Click the link to register.

What began as a simple story of a young man and his research turned into a heart-rending and inspirational tale about science, family traditions, honor, sacrifice, peace and war. Join us for an evening of discovery as Grace Lim and her journalism students present Green Medicine: From the Mountains of Laos to the Labs at UW Oshkosh, a multimedia, cross-cultural project.

 

This event include a short video in the Reeve Union Theatre and a photo exhibit in the Steinhilber Gallery, as well as a 28-page magazine.

]]> No publisher Hoeft, Brittany P 2013-04-29T15:45:00Z Event Hall of Fame & Senior Awards Banquet http://www.uwosh.edu/alumni/events/hall-of-fame-senior-awards-banquet The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Hall of Fame welcomes its largest class ever when eight members are inducted at the Hall of Fame & Senior Awards Banquet on Sunday, May 5. Two baseball players, Kevin Mlodik and Aaron Richartz, are among the inductees. Also included are gymnast Tiffany (Barden) Losinski, track & field thrower Vicki Drewa, tennis standout Jennifer (Pekulik) Petricek and soccer goalkeeper Mitch Poppen. Legendary coaches Deb Vercauteren and John Zupanc join them in the class of 2013.

UW-Oshkosh also will honor its senior student-athletes. The banquet includes the presentation of the John Taylor Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Phyllis Roney Coaches awards.

Tickets are available for the event at a cost of $22 per person. People may also sponsor a senior athlete’s dinner for $22. To purchase tickets or sponsor a senior athlete, contact Susie Gustke at (920) 424-1383 or gustke@uwosh.edu. Tickets will be available until April 29.
