1970
- Martha (Sheerar) McGregor (EHS), MST ’73, a researcher in pathobiological sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, received the UW Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in research, critical research support on April 24. (5-1-08)
- Michael Metke (LS), MSE ’74 from Tyler, Texas, was formally inaugurated as president of Tyler Junior College. (5-1-08)
- Dale Race (EHS), a Marinette native, retired after coaching 1000 basketball games. He will be inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame this summer. (5-1-08)
1971
- Kathryn (Mortwedt) Hanson (EHS) retired from the Social Security Administration and now works as a marketing coonsultant for SecurePath by Transamerica Retirement Management in St. Paul, Minn. (5-1-08)
- Joan (Solander) Lemon (EHS) retired after 30 years of teaching at the elementary level and is now a site inspector for Dolphin Vacations in Grand Rapids, Mich. (5-1-08)
- William Weber (LS) of Richland, Washington, has been named an Inaugural Fellow in the Materials Research Society for his "seminal contributions, leadership, mentoring and innovative research on defects, defect properties, ion-solid interactions, radiation effects and models of radiation damage processes in glasses and ceramics.” (4-1-08)
1972
- Thomas Sphatt (LS) advanced to fellowship status in the American College of Healthcare Executives in October. (5-1-08)
1973
- Dennis Allar (B) sold a 15-year partnership in the Appleton Manufacturing Division of Productive Solutions in December 2006 and started a new firm, Allar Enterprises, in January 2007. (5-1-08)
- Mark Hanson (EHS) of Delavan received the Herb Kohl Fellowship Award for his excellent teaching and compassionate care for the students. (4-1-08)
- Jaime Malwitz (EHS), MS ’88 will be co-directing the Sally Ride Academy in Fond du Lac, August 11-15, this summer. (5-1-08)
1974
- Dave Haines (LS), MSE ’76 recently retired as the education director at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution. (5-1-08)
- Linda Plotz (B) and '93 (MBA) 'is a Medicare regulatory and reimbursement process manager at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. (5-1-08)
- Barbara (Wiese) Renaud (LS) is the marketing communications manager at Mitsubishi Electric HVAC in Georgia. (5-1-08)
1975
- David Duda (N) is senior vice president of operations and chief nursing officer at Riverside Medical Center in Illinois. (5-1-08)
- Don Kreuser (EHS), MS ’82 was named a Herb Kohl award winner. Don has worked at Hartford Union High School since 1975 as a physical education and health teacher. (5-1-08)
- Michelle Weinberger-Burns (LS) of Waupaca received the 2008 Career Service Award from the Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office. She retired from the field of social work in April. (5-1-08)
1976
- Eric Anderson (LS) and '89 (MS) received an Excellence in Education Award for Middle Level Education from the Fond du Lac School District (Teacher of the Year in November) and the Robert Snavely Award for Contributions to Social Studies from the Wisconsin Council for Social Studies in 2006. (5-1-08)
- Beverly Herzog (LS) completed a two-year term as chair of the Association of the Ground Water Scientists and Engineers (AGWSE) and is vice president of the National Ground Water Association (NGWA). AGWSE is NGWA’s largest
division and has more than 9,000 members worldwide, with most from North America. (5-1-08)
- Deb Schaefer (EHS) teaches and coaches track at the Melrose-Mindoro High School, where nearly 1/3 of the students participate in track and field. (6-1-08)
- Richard Van Dyke (LS) graduated in December from the University of Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music, completing a doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance. (5-1-08)

- Julie (Warren) Koch (N) is clinical practice and education director at PeaceHealth-State of Oregon Region. (5-1-08)

- David Backmann (LS) is communications director for International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139 in Pewaukee. (5-1-08)
- Terry (Folkedahl) Backmann (LS) is a partner in Jordan Financial Life Planning, a financial-planning firm in Kenosha. (5-1-08)
- Mike Hanson (LS), MBA ’89, of New London accepted the position of chief operating officer of the Ministry Medical Group. (6-1-08)
- Veronica Harper-Miller (LS) is a part-time instructor for the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Social Work. (5-1-08)
1979
- Susan (Stigall) Barker (LS) is an executive for General Electric. She leads the company’s information technology leadership program for the healthcare division. (5-1-08)
- Kim Eparvier (EHS) of Peshtigo will assume the presidency of the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators beginning in July. (6-1-08)
- Linda (Zdroik) Jerzak (N) joined the Ministry weight management team as a program nurse practitioner. She also is part of the new family medicine team in Rhinelander. (6-1-08)
- Doug Klein (LS) has recently been promoted to chief gas technician at Alliant Energy WPL serving the Ripon District. (6-1-08)
