Walking
I adjusted my graduation cap and looked all around me. There were hundreds of friends and family members snapping pictures and cheering on their graduates. Right before the commencement ceremony began, I quickly took my cellphone out to text my sister. "Where are you guys sitting?"
"To your left. I'll wave," she replied back.
There they were: My mom, my two sisters and six of my seven brothers. I hadn't even walked on stage yet and my mom already started tearing up.
Although I still have one more interim course to take before I completely finish college, I can feel a whole new chapter of my life unfolding. For the last couple of years up until now I always knew where I was going to be in the months ahead. I knew which courses I was going to be studying for. I knew which people I was going to be surrounded by. I knew which exact days I was going to be able to go home and visit my family. But for the next couple of months, I don't know what the future holds.
All I know is that after completing my interim course, I will be heading to Japan for a couple of months for an internship I have accepted. I'll be doing market researching, program planning and promotional projects for an English teaching program and European resort in Japan.
I'm extremely excited ,but I have many people to thank in helping me get this far. One group of people I want to personally thank is the staff of Integrated Marketing and Communications. I am truly blessed to have worked with such talented professionals. I have gained so much insight through their guidance and leadership.
Working and going to school at UW Oshkosh has inspired me to keep in touch with the University. I hope to continuously come back and share with familiar faces the achievements I've made and the places I've been to thanks to my education and experience at UW Oshkosh.
