Employee Exit/Transfer Interview

Purpose

If you are either leaving UW Oshkosh or transferring to another department, we'd like to obtain information from you regarding our workplace environment you've observed or experienced during your period of employment. This is a unique opportunity to have you share your observations, concerns, and experiences in a generic format without identifying yourself. This is one way we can learn what we are doing well, what is appreciated, what we need to improve, and what is important to you.

Exit or transfer interviews are entirely voluntary, and the results are strictly confidential, unless you want us to share them. Information shared during the interview or survey does not become part of your personnel file and will in no way affect your reemployment prospects should you seek to return to UW Oshkosh. Notes from individual interviews or completion of Internet surveys are entered into a database in the Office of Equity and Affirmative Action without your name or other personal information, and the notes are then destroyed. As stated above, only generic information resulting from the interviews will ultimately be shared outside the Affirmative Action Office, and then only if such information cannot compromise the anonymity of individual respondents.

Process

In working with the Human Resources Office, we become aware you are leaving UW Oshkosh or transferring to another department. We then initiate an e-mail to you, explaining the purpose of the interview and process, and give you two alternatives. First is a one-on-one interview with Pamela Lassiter in the Office of Equity and Affirmative Action , taking an hour or less and occurring at a time and place of your choosing. An alternative is an on-line exit interview survey, which can be completed and submitted anonymously to the Office of Equity and Affirmative Action .

You are under no obligation or pressure to discuss all items on the interview form, and are at liberty to add topics as well, to provide as much or as little information as you want on any subject relevant to your experiences here.

After the interview or completion of the on-line survey, the responses are entered into a database in the Office of Equity and Affirmative Action without your name or any identifying information. Part of the value of these interviews is the picture that emerges over time and the aggregate themes that are reported. On an annual basis we will provide a summary report to top administrators, and expect it to contain summaries from the approximately 100 employees who leave each year due to retirements or other reasons. We have divided the approximate 1500 employee group into four divisions, so that individual responses cannot be traced to any one faculty or staff employee.

Contact Pamela Lassiter to arrange a face-to-face interview or access the online Employee Exit / Transfer Interview Form.

Thank you for the work you did while at UW Oshkosh and for the time you spent here!
