HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR GRADE POINT AVERAGE
Each letter grade is worth the following grade points:
A = 4 AB = 3.5 B = 3 BC = 2.5 C = 2 CD = 1.5 D = 1 F = 0
To calculate the grade point you will receive for ONE class, multiply the number of credits attempted by the number assigned to the grade (for example, if you get an “A” in a 3 credit course, you would multiply 3 (credits) by 4 (grade points) for a total of 12 grade points.
To calculate a semester grade point for all classes:
- Add all grade points from all classes
- Divide the total by the number of credits attempted during the semester.
Example A:
| Course Number | Credits Attempted | Grade | Grade Points |
| WBIS 188 |
3 | B | 9 |
| PBIS 189 |
4 | A | 16 |
| Kinesiol 105 |
2 | BC | 5 |
| Biology 104 |
4 | AB | 14 |
| Art 105 |
3 | C | 6 |
Total Credits Attempted: 16
Semester Grade Point Average: 3.13

Total Credits Earned: 10
Total Grade Points: 30
Semester Grade Point Average: 2.31
How to calculate your cumulative grade point average:
Divide your total grade points by total credits attempted
Using the examples above: 50 grade points & 16 credits attempted + 30 grade points & 13 credits attempted = 80 grade points & 29 credits attempted
80 grade points / 29 credits attempted = 2.76 (cumulative grade point average)
Note: if a class is repeated, it always is the second grade that counts.
