Youth Options

UW Oshkosh takes part in the Youth Options Program (YOP), which was created by the State of Wisconsin Legislature. This program allows public school students in grades 11 and 12 to enroll in courses at institutions of higher education with fees and tuition for pre-approved courses paid by local school boards. To participate in YOP at UW Oshkosh, the student must apply to his or her local school board and apply to UW Oshkosh.

For more information on the state policy and regulations, visit the Youth Options website.

Applicants must meet one of the following three criteria to be eligible for YOP:

  1. Have a 3.25 cumulative GPA as indicated on the high school transcript.

  2. Rank in the top quarter of the graduating class as indicated on the high school transcript.

  3. Rank in the 2nd quarter of the graduating class and have a minimum ACT composite score of 24. (If ACT scores are not evident on the transcript, the student must arrange to have the ACT scores reported to UW Oshkosh.
NOTE: UW Oshkosh ACT school code #: 4674).

Youth Options Courses and the Student's Academic Record

Courses taken as a University YOP Student become part of the permanent University record and may affect subsequent admission to postsecondary institutions. Please be aware that a poor grade earned in a Youth Options course could have a negative impact on a future admission decision for a student.
