UW Oshkosh is the right college for me because it offers a first-class business degree. Plus, I've been an athlete all my life, and it's important to me to continue to play the sport that I love. Balancing academics and athletics has helped me become a more mature individual with solid time-management skills. I've found UW Oshkosh gives students the opportunities they need to succeed. I'm looking forward to doing a professional marketing internship before I graduate. |

Kelsey HendricksSophomore
When Kelsey isn’t giving campus tours as a student ambassador for Titan Gold Corps or getting a grass stain playing on the UW Oshkosh women’s rugby team, she’s hanging out with friends at Titan Nights or pursuing her dream of working as a physician’s assistant. UW Oshkosh is giving Kelsey the opportunity to dissect her career possibilities, build lifelong friendships and gain a wealth of knowledge. |

“The best part about Oshkosh is that it's a small community and it's a really close-knit community.”

“At UW Oshkosh, there’s so much to do in such a small space. I wouldn’t say we’re overly small but it’s a comfortable walking distance. You don’t have to worry about getting lost in the crowd.”

"As I considered where to attend college, I didn’t think I would stay in my hometown. But after visiting campus, I felt comfortable and welcomed. There are so many different ways to establish friendships with over 150 student organizations on campus. "I’ve been able to build my leadership skills as president of the University Speaker Series and get public relations experience by leading campus tours for the Admissions Office as a member of the Titan Gold Corps. I never question my decision to attend UW Oshkosh. |

"As a first-generation college student, I thought college would be intimidating. But when I visited UW Oshkosh, I met a family-like group of Admissions counselors and advisors willing to answer my questions and listen to me. My concerns became confidence as I discovered that UW Oshkosh is the place where my dreams will become reality. "After just a few classes, I realized I could make a difference with a career in medical research. |
"I have my whole life ahead of me, and I plan to spend it researching and finding a cure for cancer or Alzheimer’s. After all, making a difference and being there for others is who I am. UW Oshkosh has helped me discover myself, ease my fears and set goals based on what I really love to do."

"When I was a kid, I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up. I just knew that if I wanted something bad enough, I would succeed. I learned that lesson from my father, who was an Olympic powerlifter. Following in his footsteps, I now have five National Championships and one world record in power lifting. And trust me, my accomplishments didn’t come with just a few trips to the gym. "When I came to UW Oshkosh I realized I wanted to be a nurse practitioner — but like with powerlifting, I knew it wouldn’t happen with just a few trips to the library. |

"I jumped into my major classes right away, fine-tuning my classical guitar skills (which really helps my playing with my band “The Surreal Effect”) and learning the operational details of music production. I’ve discovered the “why” behind the sound with classes in music history and music theory, and I’ve got a new appreciation for how music is really made. |
"UW Oshkosh is helping me build a stage for my career so that when I graduate, I can use my knowledge and my guitar to share my passion for music and show the world what I can do."
Emily Dietrich
Senior
Emily Dietrich is a senior headed into dual student teaching assignments in both elementary education and special education during the coming academic year. This summer, she will teach in the Oshkosh YMCA’s Summer Fun program for school-aged children. Last May, Emily traveled to Peru to teach mathematics to elementary children, and while there, made the climb to the top of Machu Picchu and trekked the rain forests. |
