Placement Testing Information

All new freshmen must complete both the math and English placement tests unless you have taken a transferable college-level course in that area. Tests should be taken at least two weeks prior to your assigned registration date so your academic adviser can access your test scores. If you are unable to complete your placement testing, you will be unable to register for classes that require a math or English placement test score.

Directions to Testing Services:

The Testing Services Office is located in the lower level of Polk Library in Room 2. You may park on any of the adjacent streets without a permit, or choose to park in one of the five Testing Services spots in Lot #34, which is located on the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Lincoln Street. You must obtain a parking permit ($2/day) from Testing Services to use one of these spots. You may also plug a parking meter ($0.25/half hour) at various spots around campus.

Foreign Language Placement Testing (Optional)

To take the foreign language placement test in French, German or Spanish, you must have two or more years prior experience in the language in which you wish to test.

There is a possibility for you to earn retroactive credits by taking the UW Oshkosh foreign language course you test into and earning a grade of "B" or better in that course. Retroactive credit for foreign language is a topic that will be explained to you further on your orientation and registration date.

If you have been admitted, but not yet paid the $100 tuition deposit...

It is important that we hear from you! We're very happy you have been admitted for the spring 2013 semester, but we're concerned because you have not yet reserved a class registration/orientation date. If you refer back to your original admissions packet, you should find a gold sheet titled "Freshman Class Registration Form." Submitting this form, along with the $100 tuition deposit, will secure your spot in the freshman class. The $100 tuition deposit is not an additional fee; it is a credit toward your spring tuition and is refundable if you cancel your application in writing by December 1, 2012.

Can't find the form? Contact us at merten@uwosh.edu or call (920) 424-0309.
