Application Procedures
Step 1: Apply to UW Oshkosh
Transfer students may apply online to UW Oshkosh at https://apply.wisconsin.edu. Applications may also be obtained from any high school guidance office in Wisconsin or by contacting the UW Oshkosh Admissions Office.
Applications for the transfer class are accepted on a rolling basis beginning September 15 the year prior for the next fall term and July 15 for the future spring term of expected enrollment.
Step 2: Send UW Oshkosh your college/university transcripts
Forward an official transcript from all colleges or universities previously attended. An official high school transcript from a recognized high school is also required if a student is applying with less than 30 transferable semester hours of credit from previously attended colleges or universities.
Forward all application materials to:
UW Oshkosh Admissions Office
PO Box 2423
Oshkosh, WI 54903-2423
Any paperwork that is sent express/overnight by any company other than US postal services, should be sent to the following address:
UW Oshkosh Admissions Office
800 Algoma Boulevard
Oshkosh, WI 54901
(UPS, FedEx, Airborne, etc. DO NOT deliver to PO Box addresses)
Step 3: Submit application fee
Submit a $44 non-refundable application fee. If you are applying as a degree-seeking student to a UW system institution, the non-refundable application fee of $44 is required. If the last institution you attended was a UW College (two-year campus), the application fee is not required.
Step 4: Visit the Titan Transfer page for the next steps once you've been admitted
Visit our Titan Transfer page to see the steps that you need to be taken once you have been admitted to the University.
Transfer Credit Policy
Credit is awarded for college-level course work completed at institutions accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). (Foreign institutions must be recognized by the Ministry of Education in that country.)
Courses must be similar in nature, level and content to a course in our undergraduate curriculum and applicable to one of our academic programs. Continuing education courses, graduate-level courses, and courses that are remedial, technical, vocational or doctrinal in nature are not transferable. Courses from non-accredited institutions may be reviewed by the appropriate university departments to determine transferability; contact the Admissions Office for more information. Course equivalency information can be found through the Transfer Information System and the Oshkosh Transfer Information System. Students can also find current UW Oshkosh articulation agreements.
The Admission Decision
Applicants for admission are provided a comprehensive review. Determinants for admission include a number of academic and non-academic factors.
Academic factors for admission include the academic rigor of the completed college courses, the earned number of college transfer credits, individual course grades and the collegiate cumulative grade point average. A transfer applicant's high school academic record, including curriculum, GPA, class rank and ACT or SAT score will also be considered when less than 30 semester transfer credits have been earned at the time of application.
Nonacademic factors include, but are not limited to, leadership experiences, community service, motivation and life circumstances that will positively contribute to the University's strength and reflect its mission and values. Applicants are encouraged to provide documentation that supports consideration for admission, including their own personal statement and letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak directly to the applicant's ability to be academically successful.
Admission to UW Oshkosh Professional Colleges and Programs
The application to UW Oshkosh is an application for admission to the University. It does not serve as application or admission to a professional college or program that has separate and distinct admission procedures. However, since admission to many UW Oshkosh programs requires a second admission process based often times on college grades, particular attention will be given to the college cumulative GPA, the trend of college grades, earned number of transfer credits, desired major and rigor of coursework.
