Information about fixing slow Windows File Storage drives by changing the Network Provider Order.
How to Change Network Provider Order in Windows 7
- Locate and open the Network and Sharing Center in Control Panel:
- Click the Start button and navigate to Control Panel and then click on Network and Sharing Center.
- Click the Change Adapter Settings link on the left.
- If you do not have the Menu Bar on the top of the page, follow the instructions below. If you have this Menu Bar proceed to Step 4.
- Click Organize in the upper left-hand corner.
- Select Layout.
- Click on Menu Bar if it is unselected.
- Go to the Menu Bar and click on the Advanced tab.
- From the drop-down menu, select Advanced Settings.
- Click on the Provider Order tab at the top.
- Highlight the Microsoft Windows Network and move it to the top of the list using the arrows on the right.
- Click OK then close the Network Connections window by clicking the red “X” in the upper right.
