Creating a PDF File From a Word Processing Application

Using Distiller to create a pdf file from .prn or .ps files.

Acrobat Distiller is required to convert print files into PDF format. Distiller comes with the full version of Acrobat.

It can convert .prn and .ps files to .pdf documents. Most word processors (i.e. Word, Wordperfect, Lotus) can print to a file that creates the .prn or .ps file.

To create the .pdf file using Distiller:

  1. Create/edit a document in a word processor.
  2. Print the document to a file. (refer to the word processor's documentation: "print to file")
  3. Use Distiller to open the .prn or .ps file and create the .pdf file.
