Total Intake Model (TIM) representation as conceived by Lynn Freeman and Dana Vaughan following their attendance at the National Academic Advising Association's summer 2003 Institute. The original Word document would not convert easily to HTML, so it has been scanned and pasted here.
NOTE! Nothing about the TIM says that Department or Program advisors (i.e. Faculty and Academic Staff) are "prohibited" from advising first-year students who are automatically being served in the UARC.
NOTE! How Departments and Programs mold to fit the TIM is always going to be up to those Departments and Programs! A key decision such Programs will make is: what are the criteria by which students transition to a Faculty advisor? This might be successful completion of a certain course in the major, or a certain number of college credits, or some sort of formal Admission process. It's up to each Program to decide.
